When somebody asks me what my favorite place may be in Shanghai, my answer will undoubtedly be Shanghai Xuhui Binjiang Park. Xuhui Binjiang Park is located by the Huangpu River in Xuhui District, Shanghai, it is a comprehensive scenic area that integrates history, culture, art, and leisure.
Why do I like this place?
Firstly, it’s because its physicality. On those weekends while the temperature is just right there’s nothing better to do then go rock-climbing! Coincidentally, if you walk in to the center of Xuhui Binjiang Park you will see a tremendous climbing wall standing right there in the middle. A soft inflatable cushion sat beneath the giant facility, so that no one would worry about falling off the wall and injuring themselves. While there are some grown professional climbers who come here for daily work-outs. The climbing wall is unbelievably popular among teenagers, just throwing off their bags and enjoying their life without homework or classes. Of course I am one of them, even though my legs were sore from climbing all the time, my hands were shaking from the effort of keeping still, I continued climbing. Looking down from this high up, I couldn’t help thinking about the just finished Olympic Games. The Olympic Games had newly added rock-climbing to its full-scale events. Most of the rock-climbing athletes are young, like me. Watching them get up again and again after every time they fall down. Sweats beamed on their forehead, some of their hands are raw due to friction respect started to form in my stomach. No one seems to complain, they just enjoy their climb and take every chance of becoming the champion. They inspired me to never give up on something I like. Right now it‘s climbing this wall. So despite the soreness of my muscles, I kept climbing.
Secondly, it’s the leisure aspect of Xuhui Binjiang Park. As the most fashionable part of Shanghai, there are an impressively amount of pedestrian streets which are filled with various night-time bazaars, there are also some low density building communities. Tourists don’t usually come here for a specific shop or a specific market, even if you’ve come just to sit down beside the waves of the river, enjoy the sense of wind in your hair, or just to hang around and take some photos with the famous “three masters” of Shanghai. Xuhui Binjiang Park will help you drop the heaviness of your work and pressure, and promise you to leave the Park with a light and calm heart.
